Pointed or precision tweezers are better suited for isolating and removing single, fine, or ingrown hairs with more accuracy. Flat tweezers offer a wider grip surface and are useful for removing multiple fine hairs at once.

Before any tinting or lamination service, thoroughly cleanse the brow area to remove all traces of oil, makeup, SPF, and skincare products. BorboletaPro’s brow cleansing products are formulated to lift residue without irritating the skin.

After cleansing, make sure the brows are completely dry before applying any product. Moisture can interfere with tint development and lamination processing. For lamination, take an extra moment to brush the brows upward into their natural direction so you have a clear starting point before applying the Step 1 solution.

Many artists prefer to do most of the shaping after lamination, since the process reveals the true direction and coverage of the brows, making it easier to see exactly which hairs need to be removed. However, if a client has a significant amount of obvious stray hairs that would interfere with clean lamination application, light pre-shaping before the service is an available option.

When in doubt, default to shaping after. You'll have a clearer picture of what the final result should look like once the brows are set.

Pro Tip: Avoid overtrimming the brows before lamination. Instead, focus on trimming only longer hairs that might visibly alter the desired shape and end result.

Overprocessing almost always comes down to timing. Always follow the recommended processing windows for your specific products and adjust based on hair type: Fine or color-treated hair processes faster than coarse or natural hair.

Set a timer as soon as you apply each step so you're not guessing. Check the brows partway through the time window by gently lifting a few hairs. If they're moving easily and holding their shape, you're on track. If you notice any frizzing, excessive fragility, or over-malleability during Step 1, move to Step 2 immediately.

As a general technique check: After Step 1, the hairs should feel pliable and cooperative when you brush them into the desired position. If they're still resistant, they may need a little more time. If you notice frizzing, dryness, or brittleness, move on immediately. After Step 2, the hairs should feel firmer and hold their redirected shape without springing back. After the conditioning step, the brows should feel soft, smooth, and healthy to the touch.

Brows should balance and frame the face beautifully. The right arch, length, and thickness vary depending on the client's face shape. A few general guidelines:

• Complete a thorough consultation with the client to fully understand their expectations and desires
• Use their existing shape as a guide for what is actually possible to achieve with their natural hair growth patterns

Remember: These are starting points, not hard-and-fast rules. Client preference should always factor into how you shape their brows, and part of being a great brow artist is knowing how to blend technical guidelines with what your client actually wants.

A few factors can cause the tint to develop darker than intended. The most common culprits are:

• Leaving the tint on longer than recommended
• Using a developer that's too strong for the tint shade or hair type
• Applying tint to brows that weren't fully free of product buildup before the service

Brow hair that has been lightened, chemically treated, or freshly exfoliated may also absorb color more quickly. For clients prone to darker results, start on the lower end of the processing window and check its development more frequently throughout the service. You may also try mixing in a lighter shade to soften the result before applying.

Uneven lamination, where some hairs hold their shape and others don't, usually comes down to one of three things: inconsistent product application, uneven processing time, or hairs that weren't thoroughly prepped before the service.

If the result is slightly uneven after the service, gently re-brush the brows while the conditioning step is still active to encourage more uniform direction. If the issue is significant, it's best to allow the brows to recover fully before attempting to redo the service. Give the hair at least 4 weeks before re-laminating.

If the brows aren't holding after a lamination service, the most likely causes are:

• Underprocessing during Step 1 (the hairs weren't malleable enough to be fully redirected)
• A setting product that wasn't applied or didn't have enough time to work properly
• Aftercare instructions that weren't followed, particularly getting the brows wet too soon after the service

Make sure clients know to keep brows dry and avoid steam, sweating, or swimming for the first 24–48 hours. On your end, double-check your Step 1 timing and make sure each brow hair is fully coated and brushed into position before moving on.

For new clients, especially those with known sensitivities or reactive skin, we recommend doing a patch test 24–48 hours before the service. If irritation occurs at any point during the patch test period, do not proceed with the service and refer the client to a medical professional if needed.

If irritation occurs during a service, stop immediately and gently remove any product from the skin. Do not continue the service. If a client contacts you with irritation after their appointment, advise them to avoid touching or rubbing the area and to keep it clean and free of additional products until the irritation resolves.

Refer them to a medical professional if the reaction is significant or does not improve within 24–48 hours.

Good aftercare can mean the difference between stunning results that last and results that fade too fast.

After a tinting service, advise clients to:

• Avoid getting their brows wet for at least 12–24 hours (especially in chlorine-based pools)
• Skip oil-based skincare or makeup products directly on the brow area
• Use a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser around the brow area to preserve the color longer

After a lamination service, clients should also:

• Keep their brows dry and stay away from steam for the first 24–48 hours
• Avoid sleeping face-down for the first night to prevent flattening the brow hairs
• Refrain from touching or rubbing their eyebrows
• After waiting at least 24 hours, use a nourishing brow conditioning product, like our Brow Serumor Glow Up Elixir, to keep the hair healthy and nourished between appointments

Most clients should wait at least 4–6 weeks between eyebrow lamination services. Lamination involves chemical processing that temporarily alters the hair's structure, so giving the brows adequate time to recover between services is important for maintaining hair health and integrity.

Clients who are committed to regular lamination should invest in a good home conditioning routine, as healthy, well-nourished hair holds lamination better and is less prone to damage over time.

With proper care, high-quality professional brow tweezers can last for years without needing replacement. The secret is keeping the tips aligned and free from damage.

If your tweezers are slipping on fine hairs, failing to grip cleanly, or the tips have visibly bent or separated, it's time to replace them. Avoid dropping tweezers onto hard surfaces—even one good drop can misalign the tips. After each use, wash with warm soapy water and soak in disinfectant. Once dry, store your tweezers in a case or pouch to protect the tips.

Store brow tinting and lamination products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Exposure to heat, light, and humidity can affect how products perform and shorten their shelf life.

Keep lids and caps tightly sealed after each use to prevent oxidation. Developers and tints should never be stored mixed. Always mix products fresh at the time of application. Lamination solutions are particularly sensitive to contamination, so use clean applicators every time.

Borby’s Hybrid Tint should be used within 10 minutes once mixed with our Cream Developer.

Tints and Developer have a 6-month shelf life once opened (3 years if unopened).

After each use, wipe them with 70% isopropyl alcohol and wash with warm, soapy water to remove any residue and bacteria. For professional environments, follow your local disinfection protocols and avoid harsh chemicals that can dull the tips.

This may involve washing tweezers with a gentle cleanser to remove residue, then immersing them in Barbicide or another EPA-certified disinfectant, following manufacturer instructions. Dry thoroughly and store properly to preserve alignment and sharpness.
